Teachers > Barb Bender - 3 year old class - Teacher
Barb Bender is the teacher for our three year old classes. She came to Queen’s Park Preschool in 2007. Barb has a diploma in Early Childhood Education, as well certificates as an Infant and Toddler Educator and a Special Needs Educator. Her previous experience of over 20 years,includes operating a daycare and kindercare, supervising Early Childhood Education practicum students, and substituting as a preschool teacher and being a support teacher here at Queen’s Park Preschool.
Barb strongly supports parent participation preschool and was an active duty parent when both her children attended Queen’s Park Preschool. Barb believes that a preschool program should be supportive to families, child-centred, encouraging, and respectful of each individual child. Barb enjoys creating a program that is based on children’s interests, uses lots of creative and open-ended materials, and that incorporates nature. Barb believes that play and laughter are a huge part of a preschoolers day.
Barb lives in New Westminster with her husband, and two children that are in high school and middle school. When Barb is not at the preschool she is often in her garden, drinking coffee, or going for walks.She loves to travel with her family..
